Wake-Duke Preview

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will look to rebound off their first ACC loss of the season when they face the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday afternoon. After the jump we'll have a breakdown of every aspect of the game. Feel free to comment on this thread and chat live with us on the game thread tomorrow.

Josh Harris has been medically cleared to play against the Devils

Wake Forest Offense vs. Duke Defense

-Wake averages 31.7 points per game

-Duke allows 30.2 points per game

-Tanner Price averages 267.7 passing yards/game including a rating of 147.95

-Duke allows 272.2 passing yards/game including a rating of 147.48

-Tanner Price has only thrown 3 interceptions this season

-Duke has only forced 3 interceptions this season

-Wake averages 103 rushing yards/game on 37 attempts per game

-Duke allows 142 rushing yards/game

-Tanner Price has been sacked 16 times this season

-Duke only has 9 sacks so far this season

All of this adds up to a pretty easy day on offense for the Deacs. Tanner Price should have the time in the pocket that will allow him to pick apart the defense and move the ball at will on this defense.

Bud Noel continues to be a monster at corner

Duke Offense vs. Wake Forest Defense

-Duke averages 25 points per game

-Wake allows 25.8 points per game

-Sean Renfree averages 263 passing yards/game, including a rating of 133.06

-Wake allows 232.2 passing yards/game, including a rating of 118.53

-Sean Renfree has thrown 3 interceptions this season

-Wake has forced 6 interceptions this season

-Duke averages 92 rushing yards/game on 31 attempts per game

-Wake allows 117.17 rushing yards/game

-Sean Renfree has been 12 times this year

-Wake only has 6 sacks on the season

Duke should be able to move the ball effectively, but Wake's bend but don't break defense should be able to make enough critical plays to make Duke punt.

Special Teams

-Jimmy Newman 12/13 FG's 20/22 Extra Points

-Will Snyderwine/Jefferey Ijjas 4/10 FG's 18/18 Extra Points

-Alex Wulfeck averages 38.07 yards/punt

-Alex King averages 43.83 yards/punt

-Scooby Jackson averages 5.14 yards/punt return

-Duke allows 8.45 punt return yards/game

-Lee Butler averages 9.43 yards/punt return

-Wake allows 7.5 yards/punt return

-Scooby Jackson averages 22.2 yards/kickoff return

-Bud Noel averages 23.8 yards/kickoff return

-Duke allows 16.13 kickoff return yards/game

-Jamison Crowder averages 21.52 yards/kickoff return

-Wake allows 19.45 yards/kickoff return

Duke has the advantage in the punting game, but Wake will  be able to make field goals, while it's definitely not a given that Duke will be able to do the same. Wake also does a very solid job on containing punt/kickoff returns, so I expect them to keep Jamison Crowder and Lee Butler in check.

Final Analysis

Wake is too talented for this Duke team. Solid analysis, I know. I full anticipate the Deacs will return home Saturday night with a record of 4-1 in the ACC, and 5-2 overall. Tanner Price and his weapons will prove to be too much for the Duke secondary. Bud Noel is also going to do a fantastic job of containing Conner Vernon

Prediction: Wake 41 Duke 31
