It has been a bizarre last 3-4 days for Wake Forest fans. We have seen some things we haven't seen in a while...WINS!
The Wake Forest women's basketball team pounded the Boston College Golden Eagles tonight 82-64 tonight at the Joel. Sandra Garcia led the Deacs with 21 points, but there were 5 in double-figures.
The Deacs (11-12, 2-5 ACC), were up by as many as 25 points in the 2nd half, and cruised to an easy victory. The women have definitely shown that they can play with anybody in the ACC, and it is great to see their hard work paying off.
I am a huge Coach Petersen fan, and want to see him continue to coach here for a while. If he keeps this up and we get some wins in the 2nd half of the year, that should not be a problem. I certainly think the women are better than their record would demonstrate, and they just have to win the "one-possession" games like Coach P talked about in the coaches luncheon last week.
Congrats to the women's team, and let's keep up the program-wide success with a win in men's basketball tomorrow in Tallahassee (we can dream can't we?!?).
