Evan Beck leads Deacs on first day of JU Invitational (update)

The Wake Forest men's golf team got their spring season started off today with the first two rounds of the two day, four round golf tournament.

The Deacs were led by Even Beck, who carded a -1 (71) to start the day, and a -2 (70) for his second round, which puts him in 2nd place overall. Beck is 3 shots behind Florida's Bank Vongvanij, who carded two consecutive 69's to hold the lead at -6 par.

As a team the Deacs are in 9th at at +32, 3 9shots back of Florida after the first day. 

Apparently there was something wrong with the GolfStat scoring updates, and Wake Forest is not in 9th place at +32, but actually in 5th place at +21 over. A welcome scoring error on their part! It looks like Lee Bedford's score was 11 shots off, as they had him at an 83, but he actually shot an even par 72.
