The Triad Pro-Am Summer League gets started next Monday, July 12th at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, NC. This is always one of my favorite events of the year because it allows the fans to get an up-close and personal (and free!) look at the Wake Forest basketball team as they begin preparations for another season. This year should be especially interesting because of the six new faces in the program: J.T. Terrell, Tony Chennault, Travis Mckie, Carson Desrosiers, Melvin Tabb and Georgetown transfer Nikita Mescheriakov.
The games will be played on Mondays and Thursdays until early August. There are three sets of games in two gyms and the first game tips off around 6:30. If the schedules become available online, I will try to post who plays where so you can be sure to see the players that you came to see.
Obviously it is sometimes hard to draw a ton of conclusions from these games, but it is fun to get a first look at the team against some solid competition. Perhaps the most exciting team to watch from a Wake fan's point of view is the group of Tony Woods, J.T. Terrell and L.D. Williams. The other Demon Deacon pairings are Ari Stewart, Melvin Tabb & Nikita Mescheriakov, C.J. Harris & Carson Desrosiers, Travis McKie & Gary Clark, and Tony Chennault & Ty Walker. For those of you out of state, we should have plenty of reports this year from myself and the Johnstons so stay tuned to BSD for those!
