What a weekend for the Wake Forest football staff. Off the heels of the Kevin Sousa commitment, the Demon Deacons received even more good news.
LB Mike Rose, LB Andre Wiggins and WR Curt Evans will join the other 10 members of the 2011 class, making up one of the more impressive recruiting coups in Wake Forest history.
Updated to add that Wake Forest has added another 2* recruit in Devin Gaulden (click on name for link to Scout profile). Welcome Devin!!!
Rose, from Simpsonville, SC, is a 3* on Scout and boasts a 4.45 40 yd dash, 10.8 100m dash and a 3.2 GPA. He had offers from ECU, Louisville, Maryland and N.C. State, as well as Wake.
Wiggins, a 6'2", 200 lb. LB, attends Madison HS in San Antonio, TX. The 3* was considered a heavy Texas A&M lean before committing to the Deacs.
Despite offers from Boston College, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Nebraska, South Carolina, USF, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and West Virginia, 3* WR Curt Evans chose the Deacs. According to ESPN, Evans is:
a really good player that is also very confident in his ability to get open as well as make big plays once he does. He has average height and bulk, but looks a bit bigger on film than his listed measurables. Is wiry and has some functional strength to be a factor in contested match-ups because he is competitive and also a good leaper. Surges off the ball and gets to top speed quickly. On the outside he can stretch the field and does a nice job setting defenders up with double moves and stutters to create separation and give the impression he is going to break the route off. He does not also show smooth transition as a short and intermediate route runner. Can have some tension in the hips. Diagonal breaks and vertical cuts he is very good with, speed and sharp cuts he can gear down some to gather before he breaks and gives away indicators of his intentions. He attacks the football when it is in the air. He will leap, dive and extend above his head and away from his frame to snag balls thrown his way. Works from the slot and does a nice job locating voids in coverage and settling. Can stretch the seam and will make plays over the middle of the field and in traffic. Evans has a swagger and he plays the game with energy and is very productive. Has upside to become a very good player with some big play ability for the next level.
By all accounts, the Deacs are not done yet, so stay tuned!
Updated: Devin Gaulden was a 2* that had verbally committed to Auburn, but now has switched to Wake Forest. He plays CB, and will be a great addition on defense for years to come!
