Wake Forest secured a commitment from Raleigh Enloe junior standout Melvin Tabb on Saturday. Tabb is a 6'8" 225 lb. face-up four man that will join guards JT Terrell and Tony Chenault in the Old Gold and Black in 2010.
More on Tabb and the 2010 class after the jump..
The recruiting staff - Dino, Battle, Kelsey and Muse - has to be pleased with the results of this class so far. All 3 of the secured players are 4-star players on scout.com with a chance to make some even bigger noise this summer on the AAU circuit. My favorite part about this particular class so far is the balance it possesses.
- Tony Chenault is a hard-nosed point guard from Philadelphia who can score or create for his teammates. He is a proven winner and simply gets it done.
- JT Terrell is the shooter that Wake fans have been looking for over the past several years. Unlike many pure shooters, he also possesses superb athletic abiliity. His game should translate well to the next level.
- Melvin Tabb is a hard working post player that does not mind mixing it up in the paint. He should be able to pack a little more weight onto his frame and be between 230-240 by the time he suits up for the Deacs. As of right now Tabb makes his living inside, getting position in the low blocks and working the offensive boards with his athleticism and length.
While this is a fantastic start to the 2010 class, there are still many questions to be answered. The Deacs will likely add 1 or 2 more to this class, with the top priorities being small forwards Travis McKie of Richmond and Casey Prather of Nashville. Also keep an eye out for Reco McCarter, who reportedly loves the Deacs. Don't be surprised if we add another to the 2009 class as well.
I will continue to follow these players and update you periodically as they finish up their high school seasons and begin their signature AAU seasons. Expect our recruiting coverage to pick up in April and continue throughout the summer when there is less going on at BSD. Here are some links to keep you entertained until then:
