ESPN article on Tony Chennault

ESPN's Dana O'Neill has a nice article up on former Deac Tony Chennault. It's a bit sad, as it describes Tony's personal situation that led to his transfer (troubled brother, ailing mother), as well as looking at the NCAA double standards when applying the hardship waiver to transferring players. It also serves as a nice catch-up on a former Deac who deserves all our sympathy and respect regardless of how you feel about the exodus of former players under Bzdelik.

Aaron Curry Retires

Great while at Wake Forest but not so great when referencing his alma mater in pre-game introductions and sometimes Twitter, A.C. has retired from pro football at 27.

Chris Paul elected head of NBAPA

Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul became the highest profile player in more than a decade to head the National Basketball Players Association, as he was elected president Wednesday after a two-day meeting in Las Vegas.

Chris Paul Elected President of NBA Players Association (NBPA)

He replaces Derek Fisher. Way to go CP3!!! A Wake Forest winner who continues to remind us what success looks and sounds like.

Defense holds upper-hand in first scrimmage

"I was very pleased with the defense," said Grobe. "I thought the defense played faster than the offense today. I thought the offense was kind of walking on egg shells a little bit. I think it will be a great teaching day for us. I think there were some mistakes made out there on both sides of the ball but more on offense than defense."

Lobotzke to handle all facets of the running game

After evaluating last season, head coach Jim Grobe decided to shift some of his coaches responsibilities this season in order to better suit the current make-up of the team. Assistant coach Steed Lobotzke will oversee running backs as well as fullbacks and tight ends while associate head coach Billy Mitchell will handle the kicking aspect of special teams.

Tyler Cavanaugh Story

I wrote an article about Tyler Cavanaugh and his former high school teammate (current Syracuse student-athlete) DaJuan Coleman. This article was featured as the cover story in a Jamesville-DeWitt (Cavanaugh's hometown) community magazine. I thought I would share it here in case anyone was interested in reading it. Feel free to tell me I suck. I appreciate the feedback.

MTOW- Harris in Limbo

The Winston-Salem Journal's Dan Collins weighs in on the Joshua Harris situation. Harris awaits word from the NCAA on whether he will be eligible for his senior season.

ACC Hoops Transfer Lists

Jim Young combed's comprehensive transfer list and compiled the ACC's figures. Not that this teaches us anything we don't know - Jeff Bzdelik can't recruit or coach at the ACC level - but at least we can read about other ACC programs and see how they're doing. #WellmanOut #BuzzOut

MTOW: Can Grobe Stop the Slide?

Dan Collins takes a quick look at the Wake Forest football team and makes a statement that is sure to raise eyebrows (especially those of the Fresh Deacs): "In days to come, I'll be mulling other key questions going into the season. For now, I'll just say that if the defense isn't one of the best in school history than I've missed the boat on a lot of players."
