The #aWAKEning is spreading and Wake Forest received several verbal commitments over the weekend.
Steven Claude WR
Wake Forest received some outstanding news on Friday night when Steven Claude committed during an unofficial visit to Wake Forest's campus for Dave Clawson's "Friday Night Lights" Camp. Claude is the 69th best receiver in the country according to 247's composite rankings, and held offers from Duke, Louisville, West Virginia and Vanderbilt. Claude runs a 4.40 second 40-yard dash, has excellent hands and has the potential to contribute from day one.
Jake Bargas TE
Jake Bargas was the number one tight end on the coaching staff's big board, and they went out and got him. At 6'4" 230 pounds, Bargas has prototypical size for a tight end, but also possesses the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. He's the 30th best tight end prospect in the 2015 recruiting class according to 247's composite rankings. Jake Bargas and Devin Pike could form an excellent tight end tandem moving forward. Bargas chose Wake over a multitude of offers including Duke, Minnesota, Boston College and Louisville.
Chris Calhoun LB/DE
Coach Clawson and his staff added some versatility to the Wake Forest defense with the commitment of Chris Calhoun. Calhoun is a consensus 3-star prospect and can play either outside linebacker or defensive end. He could eventually find himself in the "drop" role in Wake's new 4-2-5 scheme, in which a defensive lineman may drop into coverage or rush the passer. Chris chose Wake Forest over Indiana, Minnesota and Virginia.
Garrett Wilson LS
Garrett Wilson is the 11th best long snapper in the country according to the Rubio Long Snapping rankings. Wake Forest will have to replace senior long snapper Logan Feimster following this season, so this was a necessary pick up. The YouTube video below is very impressive and my amateur position tells us we have a promising long snapper in Garrett Wilson.
