Coaching Carousel Recap: Saturday

Andy Lyons

Blogger So Dear promised that we'd provide nightly updates of the coaching carousel every night until we had a head coach, so we're here to provide you updates and keep our promise.

There was no news directly involving Wake Forest, but there were still several relevant happenings in today's coaching carousel.

UNLV head coach Dave Rice is no longer a candidate at South Florida.

Marquette is now targeting Tennessee's Cuonzo Martin in addition to Ben Howland. ESPN's Jeff Goodman reports that those two have emerged as the front-runners for the position. Earlier in the week a report came out that Shaka Smart officially turned down the Marquette position. It has been reported that Howland is also a candidate for the Wake Forest opening.

Finally, Harvard has announced that head coach Tommy Amaker will officially be returning for next season. Amaker was also a potential candidate for Wake Forest and Boston College, but it is now official that Amaker is staying put.

Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins was in Chestnut Hill today interviewing for the Boston College position.

That was the major news of the day. Please continue to follow Blogger So Dear for the latest news on Wake's coaching search.
