Travis Smith is a 6'3" 205 pound quarterback out of Ithaca, Michigan, is the second commit in as many days for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Smith was named Gatorade's Michigan High School Football Player of the Year this past season and has been named All-State in each of the past three seasons. During the 2013 campaign, Smith completed 188 of his 264 passing attempts (71.2%) for 3,278 yards, 42 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. Smith is also a threat on the ground and rushed for 640 yards on just 91 carries (7.1 yards/rush) and 10 touchdowns.
Travis Smith finished his varsity career with a record of 41-0 as the starting quarterback at the Division 6 level, won four total state titles, three of which coming as a starter, 104 passing touchdowns, and 155 career touchdowns, both of which are Michigan high school records. He also threw for 8,044 yards, which is second all-time. His total offense of 10,559 yards is also second all-time. Ithaca high school currently has the nation's longest active winning streak at 56 games.
Travis will join John Wolford in the class of 2014, who is also an incoming quarterback commit. It should be an exciting quarterback competition come August. If Smith wins the job, then hopefully his undefeated streak will continue.
