Dolphins sign veteran offensive tackle to one-year deal.

The Miami Dolphins announced today the signing of veteran offensive tackle Tyson Clabo, who played at Wake Forest from 2000-2003. Clabo spent the previous seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before being released on April 4, a casualty of salary cap limitations. During his tenure in Atlanta, Clabo started in all 101 games in which he appeared, including all 16 games for the last five seasons.

Per the announcement on Miami's official website, GM Jeff Ireland said:

“We are happy that we have reached an agreement with Tyson, He will be a great addition to the offensive line both on the field and in the meeting room.”

Clabo played in 10 games for Wake Forest during his freshman season, earning his first start against Virginia. Clabo started his final 36 contests for the Deacons, eventually earning first team All-ACC honors as a senior. Undrafted out of college, Clabo found a home on the Falcons' practice squad in 2005 before being re-signed in 2006, starting a career in Atlanta which includes a 2010 Pro Bowl nod and culminated in in last season's NFC Championship Game against San Francisco.

Clabo will now go from blocking for All-Pro quarterback Matt Ryan to young star Ryan Tannehill. Miami made significant moves in the offseason to bolster their offense, including the signing of former Steeler wideout Mike Wallace and tight end Dustin Keller. Ironically, Clabo's first home game as a Dolphin will be against his former mates in Atlanta.

Miami's first Organized Team Activity (OTA) is scheduled to begin on May 21.
