The Wolfpack close out the Clemson Tigers on a 16-1 run over the final few minutes.

GREENSBORO-- Junior forward Kody Burke scored 16 points and senior Marissa Kastanek added 14 to pace North Carolina State over Clemson in a first round ACC Women's Basketball Tournament game. The Wolfpack finished the game on a 16-1 run to end the Tigers' season.

Clemson (9-21, 5-13 ACC) held a 29-26 edge at halftime but struggled in the second half, shooting an abysmal 16.7 percent. A combination of North Carolina State's defense combined with that shooting performance sealed the Tigers' fate in this year's tournament. Clemson was led by Nikki Dixon's 11 points, although all of her points were earned in the opening half.

Clemson dressed eight players against the Wolfpack, and admitted that her team may have grown tired.

"(Fatigue) always plays a factor," Clemson coach Itoro Coleman said. "The shots that we were getting, had we had our legs I think they would have gone in."

The Wolfpack (16-15, 7-11 ACC) advance to play No. 1 seed Duke in the second quarterfinal on Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum.

"We're excited to be moving on," Pack coach Kellie Harper said. "It doesn't have to be pretty. All that matters is that we had more points than them at the end of the game and we get to play tomorrow."
