Recap in haiku: Terps topple Deacs, 67-57

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

No good offense here

Can't play D in transition

Still, thank you C.J.

The senior day for hometown hero C.J. Harris was sadly a heartbreaker. Defensively (with the notable exception of Dez Wells, who went 11-12; taking out those shots, Maryland was 17-47 for 36% overall, and 21.4% from three) Wake was fantastic. The Deacs also forced 19 turnovers. The problem was that the defense in transition was atrocious (where Wells killed us) as was our offense. We shot about 33%, 29% from three, and committed 18 turnovers. Devin Thomas was a monster, with 17 points (4-9, a fantastic 9-12 from the line) and seven rebounds. C.J. had 19 points, but on 16 shots. We got Maryland in MASSIVE foul trouble and refused to capitalize. We were in the double bonus with over 10 minutes remaining and got to the line once after that. There was tons of energy, but no strategy, and very little execution. I'm not infuriated by the performance because overall the guys played really hard, but the execution drove me nuts, and I'm sad Senior Day ended in a loss. Still, Go Deacs.
