On March 4, in the final game of a four-game series, starting pitcher Brian Holmes threw a no-hitter against Marshall. This was only the fourth no-hitter in the history of the Wake Forest baseball program and the first since March 27, 2000. The lefthander from Lawrenceville, Ga., gave up just one earned run and had 10 strikeouts through nine innings, giving him a 0.45 ERA through two starts. "I just went out there and competed," Holmes said. "My arm didn’t feel the best it’s ever felt, but I just went out there and tried to do the best I could for my team."
