Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Jim Grobe has suspended six players, including four starters and second string running back DeAndre Martin for a violation of team rules.

In addition to losing Michael Campanaro to a broken hand, the Deacs will be without the services of six other key players in Saturday's ACC Atlantic battle against the Maryland Terrapins. Coach Grobe announced the suspensions of LB Mike Olson, CB Merrill Noel, S Daniel Mack, OG Frank Souza, RB DeAndre Martin and special teamer Airyn Willis today due to a violation of team rules. In the released statement Grobe said "I'm disappointed that some of our kids made ppor decisions. These are good kids who just need to learn from their mistakes."

Olson, Noel, Mack and Souza were starters for Wake Forest while Martin had been splitting time with Josh Harris in the backfield thus far this season. Obviously, this leaves even more holes on both sides of the ball and will present a great challenge to the coaching staff as they go into College Park short-handed.

This is believed to be a one week suspension for all six players.
