I'm just gonna put it like this.

Look, this sucks. I expected better even. But if finding something positive in a game like this @ Duke makes me somehow stupid for even trying to find it, then call me stupid and smack me upside the head. We ALL knew coming into this year it was gonna be a struggle. I find nothing useful or even intelligent in being miserable all the time. I’m not saying anybody here is stupid, nor do I fault them for being miserable. That’s just not how I do.

I saw things I hated. I saw plays I liked. The former far outweighs the latter. But I’m not going to ignore the former either.

The real positive here...

…outside of the circus shots, we HAVEN’T been significantly outplayed. We’re been aggressive, we’ve gotten to the line, we didn’t get killed too badly inside. Yes, we got carved up on defense in the second half, but a lot of that was the product of having to overplay the perimeter. If they shoot 3’s at a more normal rate, this game is a lot closer.

With all due respect, I think you’re confusing the emotions that come along with realizing something’s really wrong with people who are voluntarily feeling bad all the time.

Okay guy, time for you to separate the wheat from the chaff. If people are constantly miserable with the status-quo, that should send up flares to you that they’re that way for a reason. Most Wake fans aren’t at odds with you because they’re unilaterally miserable without cause. Maybe you should actually engage on the issue of why the vast majority of Wake fans aren’t feeling you at all on the state of the program, instead of just espousing the power of positive thinking.

Also even though you put a disclaimer it’s totally backhanded to say “I find nothing useful or even intelligent in being miserable all the time” and then saying “I’m not saying anyone here is stupid.” Either the peoples’ miserable reaction to the state of the program lacks intelligence – which sounds like stupid to me – or peoples’ miserable reaction to the same doesn’t lack intelligence. You can’t poo-poo the intelligence of people who are experiencing an an attendant feeling of misery in re their evaluations of the state of Wake basketball right now and then inoculate yourself by saying “it’s not an insult!”

Not fight-picking, just offering a little warning that you can’t have it both ways. You can take issue with people on the facts, but you can’t dog peoples’ negative emotional reaction to the facts for a lack of intelligence then say “but it’s not an insult!” Either it is or it isn’t. IMO this whole power of positive thinking thing you’ve got going on is getting old.

Feel free to ignore every bit of statistical improvement the team has made (admittedly going from historically bad to just not very good, but it;s still inarguable as a difference), the improved record with a tougher schedule, and pretty much the entirety of the post I made earlier tonight wherein I said in no uncertain terms I AM NOT HAPPY WITH WHERE THE PROGRAM IS. But there is literally nothing to be done about it currently; None of us has the power to fire Jeff Bzdelik, no matter how hard you wish upon that star, nor are you going to convince me of a thing.
