BlogPoll Week 6: 'Bama retains #1 spot

  • Not a lot of changes this week in the top 10 at all. Alabama handled their business against Vanderbilt and retained the #1 spot in the country. LSU did have an impressive win over a short-manned Florida, who I believe is still a pretty good team. Right now Bama and LSU are 1A and 1B in my book, with Oklahoma at #3. They are a good team, and killed Texas, but I'm not sure how much that means as of right now, because Texas is clearly not he team we all thought they were.
  • Arkansas sneaked in to the #10 spot by virtue of a strong performance against Auburn on Saturday night. Georgia Tech struggled offensively against a weak Maryland team, and nearly let them back into the game, so I dropped them a couple of spots.
  • In the teens I moved everybody up a fair amount because of their wins, and dropped the teams that had losses (novel concept I know). Not sure about Texas A&M yet. They have blown two big leads in 3 weeks, but beat an always dangerous Texas Tech team. I'm keeping them at 20 until I see what else they can do.
  • Michigan State is likely a little high, but I am eager to see that game against Michigan, and think they may shock some people in Ann Arbor.
  • For 20-25, we have the Florida/Texas powerhouses, who are both questionable top 25 teams as of right now. I think Florida is better than they played the last two weeks, but I'm not so sure about Texas. Georgia and Illinois enter the BSD polls for the first time this week. Georgia is much better than their 4-2 record would indicate, and I expect them to make some noise in the SEC this season.
  • UNC and FSU dropped out of the top 25. FSU is not as good as people thought, but should get back in here in 2-3 weeks. UNC had a lackluster performance against Big East bottom-feeder Louisville, and will also need to prove themselves to get back into the top 25.
  • WFU opponent this week Virginia Tech sits at #18, after a dramatic last minute win against Miami at Lane Stadium on Saturday.
  • I did not consider ranking Wake Forest yet, but if they win Saturday night, you can bet they will crack the BSD top 25 next Monday. Get it done Deacs.
If you see any glaring omissions then leave a comment and I'll change it if it seems to be legitimate!
