Wake Releases Depth Chart For Season Opener
The depth chart for Wake Forest's 2010 season opener was released on Tuesday. There are no major surprises for those fortunate enough to have been to a few of the scrimmages, but there is certainly an infusion of youth set to take the field for the Deacs this year. Three redshirt freshman are slated to get the nod on defense as Frank Souza, Nikita Whitlock, and Daniel Mack are to run with the first team when the team takes the field on Thursday against Presbyterian.

Skylar Jones
What is his deal for this season? He did not win the QB battle and he is not on the depth chart for WR. Should we be resigned to the fact that Grobe thinks he is unlikely to make an impact at any position, which is why he is not seeing the field?
I got a chance to watch Skylar Jones run the first team offense in the spring. Throughout the summer I was asked what I thought about Wake’s chances this year. My reply was that it depends on the quarterback. Skylar Jones’ passing ability isn’t DI grade. Any other option is the better option at quarterback. I hope he can find some role, but I don’t see a place for him.
Excited about seeing the new safeties in there as well as Justin Jackson, Josh Harris and Campanaro.
Josh, we are so deep and talented at WR that there are 3 other guys not on the depth chart that would get the nod before Skylar. Wake fans are oddly fascinated with him, but odds are you won’t see him on the field in any meaningful plays.
I see
I think they have the fascination since he was so hyped coming into Wake Forest. It seems time to retire that hype, however.
Wow
Booi has to be really awful to have a 235-lb nose guard starting.

Either that size number is way wrong or he's not a monster.
Sorry but in space, a 235-lb nose will get eaten alive. Will be watching this closely as I’m sure Wake fans wil

It will certainly be interesting to watch. As I said in the defensive preview, he was 5A Texas state defensive player of the year for a reason. I’m sure his size will hinder him plenty, but whether or not it will be a game-changing difference is yet to be seen. By all accounts he is pretty tough to handle.
Just would be easier to see if he was in space, ya know?

Did wake go back to putting its best offensive linemen on the interior? I know they did that before Riley got there.

Most Exciting Part of the Depth Chart
The part of the depth chart I am most excited about? Kick returners. Campanaro and Harris are dangerous. Get your popcorn ready, Deacon fans.
Nikita Whitlock...
is going to have a MONSTER year. Trust me.
I’m glad to see Camp and Harris are returning kicks/punts. Also thought Jackson would beat out Haynes at the LB spot, but good for him. Always good to see yet another Riley starting, much less with his bro next to him.
