Mystery Recruit Sighting

[EDIT: 4:35] We originally reported that Jackson Simmons was on campus. Despite the original report, it was confirmed that this recruit was not Jackson Simmons, but was in fact someone else. We'll do our best to let you know exactly who it was.

Check BSD for more updates on the Wake targets in the class of 2011.

I saw him play at the Carolina Challenge. He is a very hard worker on both sides of the floor and really works as hard as Hansmule did at UNC. This is a good recruitment in my opinion.

Good to see Bzdelik is hitting the recruiting trail hard as well.

Good to hear. I’d love to see Simmons/Lewis for 2011.

Sorry, Hinds/Simmons

I’d like to get into the Baru sweepstakes as well. He also plays for Team Loaded.

Actually, let’s just get Team Loaded. Alex White is good too.

uhhh he is terrible, i dont want to become BC here and recruit a bunch of players in the 80s.

Wow 85, that’s Appalachian State material not ACC material. This kid’s in an 11 way tie for the 86th best PF prospect in the country according to ESPN. One person who has the same grade as him just commited to Boston U which not only is a team in an awful conference but also hasn’t made the tournament since 2002. I think this is ridiculous Bzdelik should be going after guys with a 90 grade or higher. This isn’t Colorado anymore he can’t just go after marginal prospects he has to go after blue chip recruits if he wants to win in this league and keep the fans happy. Keep in mind last year Gaudio recruited 4 players that were rated better than 86th in the nation. This year Bzdelik is trying to recruit the 86th best PF player in the nation.

I’m eager to see who this is.

Wake fans can’t talk out of both side of their mouths when it comes to high school player ratings. On one hand, we ignore them when grobe recruits and live/die by them on the basketball end. This kid has a motor and and a high iq. I’m interested in that

Basketball and football are two different sports. In football it takes a lot of good recruits to become big. In basketball all it takes is one player to take a team to the elite level.

I get your point, but it is not talking out of the side of your mouth when the situations are that different.

Also, if Grobe started bringing in 5 stars I don’t think anybody would be complaining either. We are just enjoying a pipeline of success with players that aren’t rated as high.

Thank God

So it’s a guy who looks like Simmons meaning he’s white and probably has short hair and in the 6’7 to 6’9 range. That would be great if it was Kyle Wiltjer. They sort of look like each other right?

Hmm could be. Wiltjer is bigger I think.

Have we really offered him? Must have been a long while ago.

Wiltjer would make sense because he is also good friends with Jabari Brown, who is interested (or was at one point) in Wake.

ill take Wiltjer, not that D3 prospect

You guys should really stop hating on Jackson unless you have seen him in person. He’s a good player, just not flashy.

I believe what most are hoping for Jake, is for Buzz to go head to head with K & Roy and compete for the top recruits nationally.

That’s just not realistic. If Bz can recruit on Dino’s level it would be a huge success. We need to keep getting top 40-100 prospects consistently, with a couple blue-chippers every now and then and a couple players outside this range that we feel can develop.

I actually saw him today or I believe I saw him today when I was walking around the Miller Center. He was with Bzdelik he is white with really short hair yet I don’t think he’s 6’7-6’9. I thought he was about 6’4 or 6’5. I tried to look for him on scout and rivals and I couldn’t find anyone who met the criteria.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we will figure it out soon.
