Bzdelik to Wake Forest reportedly done, press conference tomorrow

Sources in Winston-Salem are reporting that unless something drastically changes in the next couple of hours, Jeff Bzdelik will be named the next Wake Forest head coach in a press conference tomorrow.

Bzdelik is reportedly meeting with high ranking officials of the Deacon Club at 4:30 with a formal interview scheduled today as well. Bzdelik has been in Winston-Salem touring the Wake Forest campus and facilities since yesterday afternoon.

Bzdelik was 36-58 in three seasons with Colorado and will replace Dino Gaudio as the head coach at Wake Forest. Bzdelik was just 10-35 in conference at Colorado, but showed significant improvement from his 2nd and 3rd seasons in Boulder. His coaching stints include the NBA's Denver Nuggets, Air Force, and Colorado.

Jeff Bzdelik would be the 21st head coach in Wake Forest history if announced.

UPDATE (4:54 p.m.): WXII12 is reporting that a press conference will be scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Great Hire!!!! This is awesome! Keep the recruits, get a better system in place, have a coach that can actually call a time out and run a play. Great

also, hopefully keep a large portion of the coaching staff from the Gaudio era in place.

If he just replaces Gaudio and keeps everything else the same (including the recruits) then this will be a good hire, I agree.

Agree with RA Johnston. I have nothing against his X’s and O’s. I also love his work ethic. In the NBA he put in 19 hour days, that’s exactly the type of work ethic it takes to succeed. I love it.

I have to say, this hire is sort of growing on me. I was never really down on it in the first place, but the more I look at it, the more I like it.

New mascot (can the Dino costume be traded?)

And maybe like many organizations, when the dust settles and the debate has ended, the masses can all vote unanimously on the choice (and later deny they were for the choice if things go bad….).

Wow…Ron must have put some kool aid in the majority of US drinking systems. Even I’m starting to get on board with this.

I’m not. I still feel sick and disillusioned by this whole thing and I really am not overreacting when I say that I might never feel the same way about the athletic department again. That’s how much of an impact this has had on me, for better or worse.

But I guess it’s time to turn the page, keep the recruits and pull harder for the kids than ever. I have more invested in the recruits than Bzdelik does right now and I’m hoping he gets that investment ten fold as soon as he possibly can.

Bah da da da da da da da, Go Deacs.
