Well, what can I say? Guess it's another haiku.

Same old song and dance
Law of Eternal Return
Guess Nietzsche was right.

So – if Wake does get into the NCAA’s (which they probably will based on OOC even though they don’t really deserve it) and manage to lose in the first round (which probably won’t be as bad as last year because there’s no way they are higher than a 9 seed), what’s the chance Gaudio is gone?

I like the guy but he’s terrible in the post season and he’s done a terrible job managing the immense talent we have had. You see it in the lack of preparation and inability to adjust – those are coaching issues.

NIT Please!

I really hope we get knocked out of the NCAA tourney so no one watches us get blown out in the 1st round.

We’ll be playing a better team than Miami in the NCAA tournament and I feel a repeat of yesterday and last year coming.

What I don't understand

is the lack of passion displayed by the team in the ACC/NCAA tournament last season. I would be okay if we lost to a better team but showed a desire to win and hustle. Last season I thought it was because Teague/JJ had a foot out the door but I did not expect it with LD/Ish leading the team. With a somewhat different team from last season, I think blame has to be on Dino.

I don’t know why this team has quit in the postseason the past two seasons but it is a telling sign. If they dump on the court in the NCAA tournament, a major change needs to be made.

Watching today’s game just made me sad. I expected more out of this team. I thought they had more heart, but I really believe they gave up today.

One thing has been consistent this season: When we get behind early, we really suck. In order to win, we have to get out to a good start and gain some confidence. After Miami hit those threes to start the game, the Deacs looked tight (except for Ish and maybe TWoods).

Defense was definitely lacking today, which is disappointing for this team which supposedly prides itself in its D.

Coaching Woes

What I really don’t understand is that Dino’s known for 2 seasons now that teams are going to pressure us with zone defense because of spotty outside shooting, yet he seems content for our only play to be Ish driving the lane.

Aminu is a horrible three point shooter, yet he’s continually allowed to spot it up at the top of the key despite being down 5, 10…

When the team comes out with no emotion or is struggling, he just leaves them in there. Sometimes a squad needs a good wake up call or shock to the system and bench the entire 5 for a couple of minutes.

He doesn’t see a bad stretch coming and call time out at 5-8 point swing, it’s usually us being down by 12 before Dino calls timeout. Maybe he knows he has nothing he can say to change things?

Personally, I think Dino is an excellent recruiter but his pre-Wake coaching record says it all. He can recruit, but the X’s and O’s are weak at best. The pure talent we’ve had the past 2 seasons has gotten him winning records on it’s own.

Dino Gaudio Must GO

I am a true Wake Forest fan, I have been pulling for the deacs since I was 5 years old (30 years ago) I rarely miss a home game despite living 3 1/2 hours from Winston and I didn’t miss a game this entire season. I have tried to support Dino but I am done. Everything Skip Prosser put in place he is destroying. I read his comments about the players not playing with emotion and drive, which is garbage. What happened on Thursday was a coaching disaster. He put in shooters that would not shoot. People were screaming from the stands to shoot the ball. No one on offence were running cuts, or even trying to get open. It appears that everyone is scared to death to take shots and play (except for Ishmael). I will tell you what happens in March, we start playing in November and our opponents watch our tapes and learn how to play us and we have no ability to make corrections. We have always been a transition team but now we want to play half court offence, we don’t want to trap at half court when we are down 20 points. Why,why, why? We look like we are playing pick up ball at the park. Just like last year, we can’t even win against a Cleveland State with two NBA first round draft picks. I am sick of spending thousands of dollars a year in support of Wake to watch Dino Gaudio mismanage some of the best players in the NCAA. Dino go back to accounting or maybe go find a D3 high school to coach. You are flat out overmatched in the ACC.
