Wow what a game…glad I bought Gameplan for the day. I had a feeling it would be good, then the first half had me drinking before noon. Good resolve by the Deacs – I hope that spurs them. My thoughts:
- First half was horrid – 3rd downs were the difference (Stanford kept converting and keeping the defense out, we couldn’t convert worth a darn)
- The defense looked much better in the second half (no points given up – although Stanford shot themselves in the foot with a couple of penalties)
- Deacs offense in 2nd half looked like 2006 – lots of mixed formations and plays that were very effective and kept the Stanford D on their heels.
- Need better special teams play if we’re going to a bowl this season (kick out of bounds, missed field goal and very close to a mixed XP – I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Newman by the end of the year)
Looking forward to the trip to Palo Alto next year. Hopefully we play smart and beat Elon like we should next week. keep up the good work on the blog guys.
The second half was very entertaining. I hope that we see that team for the majority of the rest of the season.
A big thank you to Lovell for coming out of nowhere and making the plays that some of the others can’t.
Best rushing attack I can remember in the past 3 years for the Deacs. Good stuff.
