Teague to the League

http://webmedia.news-record.com/drupal/files/imagecache/zoom_view/Images/Wake_s_Jeff_Teague__left__goes_inside_for_a_shot_against_Du.jpeg

According to several sources, Jeff Teague has officially decided to stay in the draft and forgo his final two seasons at Wake Forest.  Today was the final day for agent-less college players to pull out of the draft.  After working out in Washington D.C. yesterday, Teague flew home to Indianapolis to speak with his family and Wake Forest Coach Dino Gaudio.  This morning he had a workout with the hometown Pacers and announced his final decision to reporters.

Teague is expected to be drafted in the late teens or early twenties, although his stock has been falling as of late according to many draft outlets.  Teague's decision to leave Wake Forest will likely cost them a few wins next season, but the Deacons still have the pieces to make some noise in the ACC and return to the tournament.

In other draft news, Georgia Tech's Gani Lawal has decided to come back to the Yellow Jackets and play alongside phenom Derrick Favors.   Maryland's Greivis Vasquez just announced that he will be back at Maryland as well.  On the other hand, Kentucky's Jodie Meeks was believed to be going back to UK, but today he shocked many fans and decided to stay in the draft.  This hurts Kentucky's chances of running through the NCAA tournament in Coach Calipari's first year.

Teague

I’m glad the Teague drama is finally over. He was brilliant for half a season but moody and inconsistent in the balance. For whatever reason, he and Ish did not coexist well and created defensive issues. His points will be missed but not the apparent lack of leadership. He never mentioned the debacle with Cleveland State as a motivating factor in his decision whether to return (a huge omission to the team and the fans).

I do not think he was quite ready for the NBA but understand his take my chance while I can attitude. However, that is precisely the reason he needed to leave. If next season was going to be more about Teague for Teague then his decision was wise. I’m ready to pull for CJ Harris and Ari Stewart and those who want to be Deacons.
