Wake Update

Over the past few weeks we have been throwing tons of quotes your way.  We apologize for this, but the entire staff is graduating from Wake in a couple weeks and this is obviously a very busy time for us.

In case you missed some of the Wake Forest news contained in the quotes, here are the quick hitters and where we stand now:

  • Torgrim Sommerfeldt will not be a Demon Deacon.  He suffered a third significant knee injury and both parties decided it would be best to move on.
  • Konner Tucker was immediately targeted by the staff once the Torgrim situation became questionable.  He is a shooting guard who is known for his range and basketball IQ (always nice to have a coach's son).  Tucker will enter Wake this summer as a sophomore.
  • Pat Kelsey moved home to be Chris Mack's number one man at Xavier.  Coach Gaudio interviewed Tulsa assistant coach Dave Wojcik to fill this position, but he decided to stay with his brother at Tulsa, Head Coach Doug Wojcik.
  • Ryan Reynolds, the Assistant Coordinator of Basketball Operations, also moved from Wake to be with Coach Sean Miller at Arizona.
  • As of right now there is no word on replacements for either position, although one would think the assistant coach will be decided soon for recruiting purposes.
  • Travis McKie, recent Wake verbal, had a great weekend for Boo Williams and was praised by both the Scout and Rivals writers at the event.  He teams with Kendall Marshall, UNC commit, and Andre Dawkins, Duke commit, so it is great to hear that Mckie was their best and most consistent performer this weekend.
  • As expected, Alphonso Smith and Aaron Curry are impressing at their respective camps.

I'll leave you with a good memory for the day:

That interception clip makes 0 sense ...

Isn’t that a safety on Wake Forest? Doesn’t Smith have to go the other way with it?

It was in OT...

After the change of possession the game was over
