Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Lunchtime Links 3/25

I apologize for the lack of content, but it has been a  busy last couple of days for the BSD crew. We have some good things coming up for you concerning both Spring football and postseason basketball analysis, so make sure to stop by and check it out.

Is Virginia that attractive a job?

Interesting article on Blake Griffin from Andy Katz (James Johnson mention too).

Bill Brill has some harsh words for Dino Gaudio.

Where is Seth Curry going to go after he announced he is transferring?

Alabama is going to talk to Anthony Grant of VCU.

Mocking the Draft says that the Bears are now looking at Alphonso Smith.

The ACC Tournament, which was basically empty, was obviously hurt by the recession (and by high ticket prices for bad seats in the upper deck).

We get Dan Collins' first spring football report of the year.

MyFox8 has a neat article and video on Aaron Curry.

Due to the economy, the stadium for the WInston-Salem Dash is not completed, so they are renting Ernie Shore Field from Wake Forest.

ESPN Wake homer Andy Katz looks into what went wrong.  There seem to be a lot of questions up in the air and not a lot of answers as of now.

Seth Davis also tries to explain what happened to his Final Four pick and has a note for Jeff Teague.

The Plain Dealer has another nice article on AC.

ESPN's Heather Dinich was at Wake's first practice and was first to report the injury to Brandon Ghee.  Definitely not a good way to start the season.

Ari Stewart was selected for the US Roster for the Charm City Challenge, which takes place on April 5th in Towson, Maryland.

CJ Harris was selected for the US Roster for the Capital Classic, which takes place at American University in D.C. on April 9th.

Phonz To The Bears?

I honestly can’t think of a situation that would be worse in terms of PR for the Bears. Fans know that the Bears need to get younger on defense, but there are so many glaring holes for the team on the offensive side of the ball that I think fans might revolt is they spend another first round draft choice on a defensive player.

Oh I think so too. They need a receiver bad. I just thought that was interesting because of the fact that it is so strange.

Bah da da da da da da da, Go Deacs.

My brother and I are both of the opinion that the Bears need to spend whatever it takes to get Cutler. If the Broncos want two first round picks, then give it to them – the Bears are perennially stuck drafting between 10-20 and they’re not going to get a franchise QB with those picks anyway. I’m also not very convinced that the Bears are going to be able to get a top-knotch WR in this class anyway.

Then again, this is the Bears that we’re talking about, so while the front office is “making offers” to the Broncos for Cutler every fan knows that they’re not going to make any serious offers and the Bears will line up the same pathetic offense this year that they did last year.
