"These games are played in ACC venues, not sand-boxes,‘’ Gaudio said. "[McFarland] has to do a better job of not worrying about the officiating. So I had to take him out.‘’

Can anybody think of a legitimate reason behind Chas’ foul trouble? I understand that he is prone to frustration, which is a result of his intense physical play, but it seems like a lot more fouls are getting called on him than last year. The only thing I can honestly think of is that he is beginning to develop a reputation, particularly around the ACC, for being a “tough guy”. Whatever the reason – Chas needs to pull things together because he is apparently on a short leash.
Based on the games I have seen this year, Chas is a bit overaggressive attacking the shooter. In his effort to provide “help defense” he tries to block shots and that puts him in awkward positions. Also, when he makes a “mistake” he overcorrects and follows up with over the backs or silly fouls away from the bench. He has to be more patient and try not to be that aggressive. He is a big reason they are having problems on the glass. If he is out, that’s one less experienced rebounder. Plus, if he were less aggressive to the shooter (Aminu and Johnson or others attacking the shooter), you would still have a body to rebound or box out.
That was a pretty bold statement from Dino. You don’t usually see him calling out players in the media like that. We’ve all become frustrated with Chas’ antics this year, and hopefully something will eventually get through to them.
When you think that you are always right and the refs are always making bad calls then it might be a good time to take a look in the mirror
That’s definitely true Dino really hasn’t done something like that before. Chas has to realize how important he is to this team and needs to be smarter with his emotions at times, Wake needs him on the floor or the offense clearly takes a hit. Prime example, end of the GT game where Wake couldn’t buy a bucket.
