Skip Prosser Classic

Wake Forest, Xavier Announce Skip Prosser Classic

Xavier-wake_medium

Wake Forest University and Xavier University have agreed on a 10-year basketball series starting next season that will be known as the Skip Prosser Classic.

Prosser was the head coach at Xavier from 1994-2001 and at Wake Forest from 2001 until his death in 2007. His legacy remains strong at each school.

The 10-year series will begin during the 2009-10 season with the first game scheduled to be played at Wake Forest. Over the course of the series, five games will be played at Wake and five at Xavier. The exact dates have yet to be determined and will be announced at a later time.

Well I am certainly excited about this series. Not only with this be an entertaining basketball series between the Demon Deacons and a consistently good Xavier team, but it will be held in the memory of beloved coach Skip Prosser. Congratulations to both schools for working together to get this done.

Awesome

Thats definitely a great thing to do to honor his legacy at both schools. Its going to be an interesting series between two very similar schools. I came very close to attending Xavier, and its a great place. I’m excited for this.

Pretty cool idea. I wonder when they will decide to schedule the game.

Wow.

Unbelievable news. Growing up in Cincinnati while Skip was coach, Xavier was one of my favorite basketball teams. I’ve kept up with them and rooted for them ever since. This is a great series for both programs and will definitely be a good non-conference game for the team as Xavier consistently has success.

Great way to remember Skip and keep him in our hearts and thoughts.

Bah da da da da da da da, Go Deacs.

Great idea. I heard some rumblings about it a while back, but I’m glad to see that it finally went through. Aside from being an emotional matchup, it will also be good for our OOC schedule which has been pretty weak lately.
