Player of the Game- Wake Forest vs. Georgia Tech

The Deacs got their payback against the Yellow Jackets at home. Lewis Clinch led Georgia Tech with 24 points, five assists and six rebounds but was hindered by six turnovers. Iman Shumpert added 14 points, four assists and three steals. The Deacs got out to a quick lead, but almost gave it away in the second half as GT cut the lead to five at one point. In the end though, the Deacs stretched out the lead again behind some great plays by Ish Smith and James Johnson and some key rebounds from Tony Woods and move to 20-4 (7-4 ACC).

It’s really a tough call, James got us started in the first half, and Ish pushed the lead back up when the game got close. I have to go with Ish, he directed the offense well and passed Chris Paul to get to 7th all time in Wake Forest assists. Congratulations to Ishmael Smith.

Obviously I’m an Ish homer, but to me the biggest plays of the game were his passes to James for easy buckets once Tech cut the lead to 5. He also set up G$ and got him started in the first half too. Philpott and I noted that G$ should only play minutes with Ish in the game because he loves to drive, draw, and dish (or a 3Der BABY, as Dickie V would say) to the open 3 man.

James also played excellent though , both in getting us off to a hot start and on the boards.

M.R.,

Had a good time last night even though it got a little close. I agree, Ish played huge last night and has for the past few games. If Chas can start giving us something and Gary can keep hitting, we can go a long way. Also, the effort from JJ was great and he is hard to handle when he brings it like that.
