Hayes Watch

In honor of my strange fascination with Maryland PG Eric Hayes, whether it be berating him or just the plain fact that he is scrappy as all hell, I'm going to start an Eric Hayes Watch. There's two directions I can go in with this, so I'll test out both. I'm either going to just post Hayes's stats...OR I'm going to use this as an opportunity to post my favorite performance of the day. Why not? So to kick it off:

Eric Hayes
12 points
4-7 FG, 3-6 3PT, 1-1 FT
5 assists, 0 TO
5 rebounds, 1 steal

this is a litlle wierd — I thought this was a Wake site. Why are you fascinated by Eric Hayes? He’s been mostly average to this point in his career and I barely notice him on the court.

Dingo, here’s a quick rundown.

A couple years ago when Wake was playing Maryland I completely singled out Eric Hayes as my target to just scream at. This was his freshman season I think (Jake can fact-check). And it was really quiet in the arena. My voice tends to carry. A lot. So I was just verbally accosting Hayes every time he dribbled down the court. He turned the ball over, I screamed more. He did it again, he missed a shot, he just kept making mistakes. I felt like this was the one time I actually influenced a basketball game.

Since then, for whatever reason, I’ll check box scores to see how Hayes did. He’s average, but not bad average. He produces the same amount just about every game and barely turns the ball over. He plays hard. Basically he’s a classic Gary Williams recruit and solid ACC player.

So, I figured, why not use him as a model for my top performer of the day. I need a name anyway right? Plus, maybe Hayes will see this someday and I can ask him if he actually did hear me or not.

Bah da da da da da da da, Go Deacs.

First, I don’t think he’a bad player — just average ACC player. Your story really isn’t helping me. This is still weird. If you want to meet the guy, contact the guys at Testudo Times, they might be able to hook you up and you and Hayes can go see New Moon together.

How about this:

I give the Hayes of the Day to the most average ACC performance of the day.

And I don’t do Twilight. Robert Pattinson can go to hell.

Apparently this is an anti-fun zone. Good lord.
