Conversation with Tomahawk Nation

During football season, on my SportingNews Campus Watch blog I did a Q&A with Tomahawk Nation and in the three years I spent writing there, it was really one of the more entertaining posts I've ever done.

So, since we're playing Florida State on Feb. 14, they contacted me and we've agreed to do the same deal.

Post any questions you want them to answer and check out their site. They do an incredible job in both basketball and football season and back up news and notes with some hard-hitting statistical analysis.

When we get to the week of the game, I'll take the list of questions and they'll get me some answers. I'll be answering questions on their site too, so definitely mosey over there and take a look at what I have to say so you can give me a hard time for how wrong and off-base I am.

Thanks everyone! (and if people would recommend this post or comment so it stays near the top please do so)

Singleton

I have seen FSU play about 3 or 4 times, but not as much as I would’ve liked to. I know Singleton is a highly regarded freshman and I was just wondering what the FSU fans think about his performance so far this season. During the times I have watched him, he has played both inside and outside. Where do you think he is the most comfortable and what would you like to see more of from your McD’s All-American?

Lowell Hamilton

Please assess how Coach Hamilton is doing based on expectations.

Does the student body, alumni et al appreciate how improved and consistently better FSU is and will those same constituencies give basketball credit equal to the football program (similar to UFLA aka TebowU will FSU ever be more than a “football school.”

What is the expected impact to athletic programs based on the 10% budget cuts announced last week?

And, has FSU ever recovered from being beat by Valpo in the 1998 NCAA Tourney? And by the Valpo women in December?

I’ll be giving these questions over to the FSU guys on Monday so if you have any other questions please ask them—this means you Burke, Philpott, Griffin and Hammonds. And of course, anyone else is free to ask as well. I’ll be answering theirs around then too and should have the Q&A up by next Thursday or Friday in time for the game on Saturday.

Bah da da da da da da da, Go Deacs.

I can’t help but notice that the basketball program has improved tremendously over the past few years, and it seems that it is extremely close to being one of the top 5 teams in the ACC. Has the student body noticed the improvement and have expectations changed as a result? How do you feel about your chances of making the tournament this year?

Oh, and I don’t know if I am allowed to ask questions about the football program but…

Is Bobby Bowden the sole contributor to the decline of the football program? I definitely notice that it is on the rise – especially defensively – but they are still a hop, skip, and a jump from competing with the likes of Florida again. Do you thnk that FSU will ever dominate the national football scene again – if so, how long is it going to take? Bobby has proven more than able to recruit top 10 recruiting classes year in and year out, but the results are much much different – so what is the problem?

Who is the most underrated player on your team? Could it be Alabi? Everyone knows how good Douglas is, but who is going to surprise some people?
